In early 2021, Scottish Government will make it a requirement for all domestic properties to have interlinked smoke and heat detectors in specified areas. If you look after a residential property you need to act fast, as alarms will need to be compliant by next February.
Scottish Government’s new fire and smoke alarm regulations will require households to have one smoke alarm in the most frequently used room, one smoke alarm in each circulation area (such as hallways and landings) and a heat alarm in every kitchen. All of these alarms must be interlinked, and ceiling mounted.
All homeowners and landlords will need to comply with these new regulations. They apply to every domestic home and are designed to ensure that an increased level of safety level is adhered to in both rented and private homes.
