Project Services: retail

phs Compliance were commissioned to replace 135 existing multi-storey car park overhead lights and emergency exit signs with new energy-saving LED lights combined with motion sensors.

The car park is maintained by a well-known High Street retail chain but it is also open to the public in the local town as a general car park facility.

The 300-space car park operates over 4 levels and had to remain operational throughout the project. Acceptable light levels for pedestrian & motorist safety also had to be maintained throughout the project’s duration. Works involving the car park main entrance and exit also had to be carried out outside normal trading hours.

The site’s traffic management system had to be surveyed and agreed with the client before works commenced. We devised and communicated a comprehensive traffic management plan to all retail store personnel on site, and with all client project management staff. The plan addressed pedestrian & vehicle safe access during the works including staged cordoned & barriered work areas, alternative routing & signage.

Replacement LED fittings have made a significant contribution toward energy cost reduction and carbon emission reduction. And annual planned maintenance costs are also likely to decrease sharply as a result of fitting LED lighting.

I would like to complement phs Compliance on the work carried out. I can say without hesitation that phs Compliance made this job run smoothly.

Thanks to all the team involved in this project - everything from the pre-start meetings through to completion the communication from phs Compliance was fantastic. Quality of workmanship couldn’t be faulted and this is all to the credit of Compliance engineers who carried out the works.  Project management and supervision was such that not only did the project run smoothly but was completed ahead of schedule and with very little disruption to my clients business.

Annual kWh consumption and energy costs are forecast to drop significantly from £9.5k to £2.5k, a forecast saving of 74%.
