phs Compliance have delivered portable appliance testing services across the hospital Trust estate since 2008. The hospital treats over 275,000 children and young people per year with specialist health care services. The Trust has committed more than £10 million in FY18 for estates improvement, and since 2015 the Trust has built a new research & innovation centre alongside significantly renovated hospital facilities.
The Trust moved into 51, 000m² of purpose-built accommodation in greenfield space during 2015 as part of a PFI land-swap deal, freeing up the former hospital site for housing and community parkland re-development by the City Council. Our engineers who had delivered services to the original site for over five years had to adjust to new surroundings and rapidly familiarise themselves with the new site and asset locations.
phs Compliance delivers inspection, test and first-fix repairs to portable electrical appliances located in a wide variety of clinical and non-clinical areas across the Trust estate including the Innovation Hub, a 1000m² facility co-located within the Trust’s new Institute which enables the 3D printing of medical devices & Virtual Reality simulation.
We also work across the Chief Executive suite and hospital administration departments; estates workshops & areas; increased dependency, speciality and surgical wards; clinical research areas; medical departments including anaesthesia, vascular and EBME; charity offices; and the bereavement centre.
We support the mission of a local charity providing on-site dedicated residential accommodation for families of very ill children. 69 family bedrooms and 15 family apartments provide a safe convenient ‘home from home’ for families needing proximity to a very sick child. We have delivered portable appliance and microwave emissions inspection services to this centre at no charge since 2008.
phs Compliance delivers out-of-hours inspection and test services in sensitive clinical spaces at our customers’ request. We deliver inspection & test services only, and work closely with the Trust’s maintenance team to ensure any defects are reported as a priority for repair and re-certification. We meet monthly key performance indicators of 95% inspection in-month.
phs Compliance delivers a valuable component of continual electrical safety and compliance across the Trust, one of Europe’s leading children’s hospitals. Delivering over 17,500 portable appliance inspections and certifications annually, our customer can be confident that electrical safety compliance is comprehensively secured, estate-wide.
